Mousom Dhakal, a spinner with no international caps, has been included in Nepal’s 17-man roster for the 2018 Asia Cup. After Gyanendra Malla stepped down as captain, Nepal picked its first team without him.
Twenty-year-old Rohit Paudel, who has captained Nepal in 27 One-Day Internationals (ODIs), will lead the team once again at the Asia Cup. When Nepal qualified for the World Cup by winning the ACC Premier Cup, he was the team’s second-highest run scorer.
Sundeep Jora is back on the team after missing the World Cup qualifiers in Zimbabwe. It was also decided that Nepal will spend a week training in Pakistan before the event. During that time frame, they would also compete against teams selected by the PCB.
Nepal will compete in the competition against Pakistan and India. They will commence the tournament on August 30 against Pakistan in Multan and then play India on September 4 in Kandy. There will be a Super 4s round for the top two teams in each group.
